Africa is the birth place of coffee. According to the Kaldi legend, coffee was first discovered in Ethiopia by Kaldi (goatherd) centuries ago. The goatherd noticed that his goats, upon eating berries from a certain tree, became so spirited and the goat did not want to sleep at night.
Many coffee trees in Africa may be still the same old species from centuries ago, and some are even wild without human cultivation.
